with the canonical operational state (Revision v2). The gate now states:

The LEGACY / HISTORICAL IMPLEMENTATION section is preserved unchanged. No
predictive-edge or deployment claim is made (conclusion D stands).

## I. D3 resolution — checkpoint chunk-size semantics

Implementation evidence (read, not inferred):

- `s251_checkpoint.py` seeds the top-level `chunk_size` field once at run
  creation (value 12,582,912) and never changes it.
- Chunk manifests record the EFFECTIVE per-chunk size
  (`chunk_size_bytes`): chunks 0-8 = 12,582,912 (12 MiB);
  chunks 9-10 = 25,165,824 (24 MiB). Authoritative per-chunk truth.
- `s251_real_chunk9_manifest.json` / `chunk10_manifest.json` show
  `chunk_size_bytes: 25165824` for chunks 9-10.
- P3-S25.1C benchmark: 12/24/48/64 MiB byte-identical invariance; boundary
  audit pass; 10/10 mutation detection; SAFE_MAX_CHUNK_SIZE = 24 MiB selected.

Documented semantics (also in CURRENT_PROJECT_STATE.md + machine outputs):
